…The 2023-2027 Plan Is Aligned with Government’s Economic Transformation Agenda

The Women Enterprise Fund yesterday successfully conducted a stakeholders’ validation workshop for its upcoming 5th Strategic Plan.
Speaking at the workshop, Dr. Josephine Obonyo who represented the PS, State Department for Gender, highlighted the Fund’s transition to digital processes in March 2023 which have seen the Fund disburse KSh941 million to 18,955 groups within a three month period.
She underscored the Strategic Plan’s emphasis on Sustainability and Resilience, crucial in today’s dynamic economic landscape.
During the workshop, Dr. Jane Lang’at, chairperson of the Women Enterprise Fund Advisory Board, emphasized key strategic focuses: enhancing financial sustainability, improving loan accessibility for women entrepreneurs, fostering financial and entrepreneurial skills, enhancing market access, and strengthening institutional capabilities.
The proposed plan outlines ambitious goals, including the disbursement of KSh30 billion to 5 million women entrepreneurs, training 1,000,000 women on essential skills, and facilitating market access for over 200,000 women entrepreneurs in the next five years.
In her remarks, the chair of the Ad hoc Committee on the 2023-2027 Strategic Plan, Yvonne Tonkei highlighted the plan’s alignment with the government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.
Various stakeholders, including the State Department for Gender, National Government Affirmative Action Fund, UWEZO Fund, Office of the Controller of Budget, Kenya Bureau of Standards, IDInsight among others were present.
WEF beneficiaries were represented by 27 women from different Constituencies. They gave valuable insights, particularly on the lending process, which directly contributes to the sustainability of their businesses.
The Ag. CEO Women Enterprise Fund, Mr. Raphael Kimolo thanked all participants for their contributions and assured them that the final document will address all concerns in order to create the desired impact.
Women Enterprise Fund is a semi Autonomous Government Agency that provides accessible and affordable credit to support women and expand businesses for wealth and employment creation.
