As political campaigns intensify ahead of Party nominations in April, aspirants for all political positions have swung into action in a bid to campaign to get elected.
Residents of Kapkatet ward in Bureti, Kericho County have expressed their hope in Felix Ngeno (Boi) a new wave in the region’s politics aspiring to represent Kapkatet residents in Kericho County Assembly on a UDA ticket.
Speaking during his campaign launch on Friday at Kapkatet Primary school grounds, Ngeno vowed to lift lift Kapkatet to greater grounds in terms of development in the next five years.
Ngeno who in 2017 was running for Bureti Member of Parliament, promised to bring a lasting solution to the persistent water shortage in Bureti in his first 100 days in office, saying there is need to find an alternative water supply, ending the Kericho_Bomet war over Itare water source.
In his manifesto, Ngeno promises to empower the youth and Women to sustain themselves financially, and also seek employment for the youth at the county government if elected. He urged institutions within Bureti including Kenya Medical Training college, Kabianga University (Kapkatet Branch) among others, to prioritize the locals in employment.
“Bursary distribution has never been transparent in our Ward. It should be given to the needy on a rotational basis, with honesty. The committee should be people who are well conversant with the deserving in the community,” Ngeno said.
On matters infrastructure, he said there should be thorough vetting of whom to award contracts from within the ward not sourcing from outside saying the area residents should also benefit.
Ngeno promises to work on the poor drainage in Kapkatet town which has been a problem despite support from World Bank financially to clean the market in the past. He assured area residents that he will build public toilets which are in demand and also equip local dispensaries and complete the stalled Itoik dispensary.
He further stated that he supports the bottom up agenda by Kenya Kwanza where he cautioned the youth to refrain from being used by politicians to malign other leaders, refrain from conflicts and violence.
Kapkatet Ward residents present expressed their faith in him and offered their full support asking him to see that Kapkatet hospital and Stadium take a good shape.
