Police officers in Kisii County have apprehended 14 suspects for being in possession of electronic devices.
The operation resulted in the recovery of a significant number of electronic items, including 351 phones, 20 laptops, 13 tablets, and 21 hard drives within Kisii town.
The Kisii County Commander, Charles Kases, confirmed that these suspects are believed to be involved in theft, and they are currently in police custody, awaiting their arraignment in court to face legal proceedings.
This operation was initiated in response to numerous complaints from the public, and the police are actively investigating the matter.
Once the investigation is complete, the suspects will be brought before the court and charged with offenses related to cybercrime and theft, as per the Computer Misuse and Cybercrime Act of 2018.
Commander Kases emphasized that the operation will continue until all the stolen assets are recovered.
He also issued a warning to those with the intent to steal, emphasizing that the law will take its course.
Furthermore, he encouraged the public to come forward and identify their missing gadgets.
Additionally, the police are seeking a miscellaneous charge to detain the suspects further while continuing their investigations to identify any additional individuals involved in these crimes.
