The 5th Inclusive Africa Conference, a pioneering event dedicated to advancing digital accessibility and assistive technology for individuals with disabilities across Africa, convened today in Nairobi. Organized by inABLE, this annual gathering has emerged as a crucial platform for a spectrum of stakeholders, including disability experts, policymakers, researchers, innovators, entrepreneurs, businesses, and governments, to collaborate and advocate for inclusive digital environment

The event commenced with inspiring opening remarks from keynote speakers emphasizing the importance of inclusivity in the digital age and the transformative impact of assistive technologies,  engaging panel discussions explored innovative solutions, policy frameworks, and best practices aimed at breaking barriers and creating a more inclusive digital environment for persons with disabilities.

Attendees were treated to captivating tech showcases featuring cutting-edge assistive technologies, software solutions, and devices designed to improve accessibility and enhance the lives of individuals with disabilities, they also had valuable networking opportunities to connect, collaborate, and share insights with like-minded individuals and organizations committed to advancing digital inclusion.

In a statement, the organizers expressed their commitment to driving tangible change and fostering a culture of inclusivity across Africa’s digital landscape. They underscored the need for collaborative efforts between governments, businesses, civil society, and academia to ensure that no one is left behind in the digital revolution.

Building on the foundations laid by its inaugural edition in 2020, the conference reaffirmed its core mission of promoting digital inclusion and ensuring that no one is left behind in the digital transformation sweeping across the continent.

One of the key highlights of the event was the diverse range of discussions and presentations that underscored the significance of accessible technology in enhancing the lives and opportunities of persons with disabilities. In her opening address, the Executive Director and founder  of inABLE Irene Mbari Kirika, emphasized the critical role of collaborative efforts in driving sustainable change and urged all stakeholders to redouble their commitment to advancing digital inclusion.

Throughout the day, participants engaged in interactive sessions, workshops, and networking opportunities, fostering meaningful dialogue and forging new partnerships towards a more inclusive Africa.
