More than 400 opinion leaders from Kirinyaga County yesterday met to chart a way forward for their region.
The leaders met at Abai Resort and Lodges in Kagio area where they discussed various developmental issues.
They were hosted by Interior Principal Secretary Dr Karanja Kibicho who in his remarks observed that with the right leadership and prudent use of resources, the county was capable of becoming the country’s Singapore.
More irinyaga has the potential to become the Singapore of this country.
At the same time, the PS who was widely expected to contest a political seat in the area but shelved the idea challenged those seeking various positions to stop giving out peanuts for handouts as it was tantamount to insulting the electorate.

Among those who attended the meeting were most of the elected leaders, the clergy and dozens of aspirants allied to Azimio faction.
The leaders included the area Senator Charles Kibiru, Women Rep. Wangui Ngirichi and Deputy Governor Peter Ndambiri.
