When we consider worship in light of the book of Ephesians, we see clearly why the apostle Paul waits until the first verse of the third chapter to declare that he is nothing more than a prisoner of Jesus Christ. Worshippers are different from praisers, because they have stepped beyond thanking God for altering their conditions to worshipping Him for their position as His children: Selah!.
They love Him for who He is, and they are forever humbled by whom He has made them to be. The first chapter of Ephesians, which describes in detail the incomprehensible reality of who God is and all He accomplished in His redemptive work through Jesus Christ. In Experiencing Jesus, we dug into the second chapter of Ephesians, where God mercifully quickens us with Christ, raises and seats us together with Him and with each other, and makes us a holy temple in which He dwells forever.
By chapter three, Paul falls upon his face and cries, “I am undone by the revelation of my Creator and all He has done for me. I am nothing but a prisoner of the Lord Jesus Christ! ALL I CAN DO IS WORSHIP HIM!” You see, Paul was not forced or made to be a prisoner of Jesus Christ. He chose to be His prisoner. Many believers choose to allow Jesus to save them and heal them and set them free, but few believers choose to become His prisoners.
