Worth Noting:
- The hardest part of being an entrepreneur is patience as different customers have different temperaments and view regarding my products.
- I initially stocked my business with products that are seldom used by the people within the locality. I had failed since I was to first inquire the market demand before setting the business. This led to a lot of financial loss since most of those products expired before being bought.
- I foster creative ideas through reading articles and browsing the internet on people who have succeeded in business fields. I also surround myself with business minded people; visionary and with great ambitions as mine. My very special gratitude goes to my long-term ally( Ignatius Juma) who really motivated and helped me on starting the business.

My name is Evans Asikoyo Amubi. I am a teacher by profession; characterizing myself with the following three words; passionate, responsible and humble. I am an expertee in Direct Instruction Model, Literacy and Numeracy, Gender and Child Friendly Pedagogy, Special Needs Education, Child’s Rights and Protection. I currently teach at Stepping Stones School-Thika. Evans is also a proud father of two children besides being an entrepreneur who ventured into business and farming. I enjoy reading motivational books and writing during my leisure time.
The idea of starting a business cropped my mind during the COVID-19 pandemic period; having known the tough times we went through, I actualized it in 2021. With the little capital I had, I decided to convert my idea into business of selling household commodities especially foodstuffs alongside an M-pesa. Later that year, I got a small piece of land where I planted kales, and spinach that I sell to ‘mama mboga’.
I wake up at 4:30 in the morning, go for workout then prepare myself for my professional work. Before leaving for work, I get to my business premises; check whether all products for sale are in stock. For any products running out of stock, I make arrangements through my suppliers on how they will get to my place. I leave for work at 5:30 after my shop attendant has reported for work. After coming back in the evening, I always get into my business premises; attend to my customers until 10.30 p.m after which I leave for home.
My favourite aspect of being an entrepreneur is seeing my customers satisfied with the products I sell to them and service I offer to them. I enjoy being part of the good feedback from my customers.

My advice to the new entrepreneur is to exercise patience. Put in hardwork and persistence in what they do to realize success. They should also note that dreams without actions are just dreams. To get through, whatever ideas they have in mind have to be actualized.
