Humanitarian and Corporate organizations operating in Kajiado County yesterday donated relief food support to the local hunger stricken residents.
The relief supplies that included food and livestock pellets were received by Governor Joseph Ole Lenku and County Commissioner, Harun Kamau, who are Co-chairs of the County Drought Risk Coordination Committtee.
Yesterday, it was the turn of the National Drought Management Authority (NDMA) and Optiven Foundation, an arm of Optiven Ltd, a leading Real Estate Company in Kenya.
NDMA’s support included 5,600 bags of livestock feed pellets, 2,000 litres of fuel subsidy for ten community boreholes and 150,000 litres of water for 30 schools.
The NDMA team was led by County Coordinator Hussein Mohammed Alio.
The Optiven Foundation donated relief food for 450 households in Purko Ward, Kajiado Central.
The Foundation’s Chairman George Wachiuri was at the ceremony to deliver the food support and supervise its distribution in the Ward.
The gesture by the two organizations comes only a day after Governor Lenku and the County Commissioner formed a Central Joint Committee to receive all relief food support for the County.
