22nd of October at ten O’ clock in the morning International Internship University held a virtual conference with the theme “Which Language Africa?
An argument can be let’s unite and have Kiswahili as an African language, because it’s a majorly spoken in Africa, however I feel we must let Africa be, because each and every indigenous language is vital.
We need to ask and encourage our rulers to incorporate our languages into our curriculum to promote and preserve them for future generations, schools can do so without much ado.
Some languages are mode of communication if not standard languages in Africa, however our roots and culture is what defines us, education does not mean to abandon what we are and going with the fashion of looking down on indigenous languages.
The rise of literature in Africa must be promoted and enhanced if not be embraced. We must also celebrate our culture and languages.
We cannot be islands and not learn other languages but there is a need for us to grow and put our indigenous languages first, then learn others Second, for various reasons.
