I am Shem Okombo (babu owino junior). Am from Kisii County – Nyamarambe. Currently am a student at Kaimosi university pursing bachelors of education science. Am a politician and I’ve served in many capacities. I have been having serving as the academic secretary in my university for span of one year now. But my dream was to serve as the president of my university a dream which i have worked for since i joined university.
Now something unique happened on the way that was last year august when i was almost leaving for attachment. There is a policy that was implemented by the university administration concerning fee policy which was to ensure students’ have to pay fees on the first four weeks. Now that it was affecting my academic docket i went to church on a certain Saturday with another student leader of mine to explain to students what exactly what going on. We advised them accordingly on the way forward. Now when it was my turn to talk i said that “when a pregnant mother is giving birth fir the first time, she has to undergo severe pains but consistent births the mother will be comfortable”. A certain lecturer who was also in church that day came to the podium and snatched the microphone from me saying that let’s not bring politics to church.
Because of respect of the altar we left with my friend after that disappointment. Now on a Monday i received phone call from the dean of students telling me to write a report of what transpired on Saturday at church.
Since i was far away from the university because by then i was planning on how to settle because i was to start my attachment, i was also looking for a room where to reside for the period I will be in attachment.
The principal called me on Tuesday in the evening and asked me what was going on and i told him nothing was going on.

After that meeting from the principal office i left the following day for attachment, i also wanted to familiarize with the surrounding as i was waiting for the right time to report on school. After reporting for attachment fir around two weeks i received a phone call from the office of registrar to go and pick a letter from there office. I was wondering what I messed. I left that afternoon around 4 android took a psv to school to pick the letter before they close the office.
The letter indicated that i should face disciplinary on a Friday the following week. I was left very upset wondering how come up with the situation. I was accused of two allegations 1. Inviting students on Saturday at church 2. Telling students’ to extend the fresher’s night that was held when i was at attachment. In really i even never attend the freshers since i was far away from school but i was told i was around that day.
Later on after the disciplinary i was out under probation where i was writing reports to the dean of students after every two weeks which am still doing.
Now early January our parliament was dissolved and i was no longer a student leader. Students were to reapply and then we go for elections. I applied for the top seat i have been yearning for which was the presidential seat. Very unfortunate I was vetted out by the committee saying i faced disciplinary bearing in my that i was found guilty. Even some other students were vying still having the warning letter but i was ejected out.
I was disappointed, i felt like am humiliated, i felt the world is too unfair for me. I even never believed it to happen. I called the principal to recommend me but at some point never picked my calls so i decided to quit.
It is a story that is really hurting me. Last week i was looking for a deferment letter to defer my studies and come back after one year but I’ve not succeeded having one from the registrar office.
Am having mental health, I can’t even settle and read. Am even planning to differ and have some rest because there are issues of fee constraints also.
