Nyeri governor Mutahi Kahiga and his deputy David Kinaniri pose for a group photo with CECs after they took oath of office yesterday.
Seven County Executive Committee Members (CECMs) were yesterday sworn in to serve in the Nyeri County government.
The seven were recently approved by the Nyeri County Assembly after they were nominated by Governor Mutahi Kahiga.
All of them served for different duration during the previous term.
It is only the former Roads and Infrastructure CEC Muthui Kariuki who was not nominated.
The seven CECs took the oath of office and signed the integrity code documents during the colourful ceremony presided over by Nyeri Principal Magistrate Mathias Okuche.
The event held at Town Hall grounds, Nyeri town was witnessed by among others, the Governor and his deputy David Kinaniri.
They are Robert Thuo (Finance, Economic Planning & ICT Services), James Wachihi (Agriculture, Livestock & Fisheries), Margaret Macharia (Education) and Simon Gachunia (County Public Service & Public Administration).
Others were Diana Kendi (Trade, Culture & Tourism), Esther Ndung’u (Gender, Youth, Social Services & Sports) and Fredrick Kinyua (Water, Environment & Solid Waste Management).
The governor thanked the CECs for their expression of interest and exuberant willingness to work with him and his government to provide leadership and governance to this great County of Nyeri and her residents.
“My gratitude goes out to the members of the County Assembly of Nyeri for the diligent execution of their constitutional and statutory mandate to vet and approve the individual members of the County Executive Committee as had been nominated,” he added.
On his part, Kinaniri urged the CECs to work even better this term to ensure the county retains top position nationally.
The County Attorney Kimani Rucuiya, County Secretary Ben Gachichio, Speaker of the County Assembly James Gichuhi, a group of MCAs led by Majority leader James Kanyugo, County Commissioner Mohammed Barre, Chief of Staff Paul Wambugu, Nyeri KNCCI Chapter director Isaac Mwangi and CEO Martin Ndirangu among others were also present.
