Leaders from Nyeri and Nyandarua counties are very keen to ensure that a road joining the two area through the Aberdare Ranges is rehabilitated.
Construction of the Ihithe-Ndunyu Njeru Road should be going on but the process was halted after it emerged that some stakeholders were not involved in the initiative.
The rehabilitation was thus cancelled to the detriment of leaders and residents of the two devolved units.
Following the cancellation, residents from the two places have held several demonstrations demanding the decision to stop the rehabilitation work rescinded.
Yesterday, Nyandarua County Governor Moses Kiarie Badilisha told residents of Ndunyu Njeru area that they were trying to resolve the stalemate that led to the cancellation of the project.
“We are already seized of the Ndunyu Njeru-Ihithe Road issue and our people should not panic,” Governor Excellency Governor Badilisha has assured residents of Ndunyu Njeru.
He made the disclosure when he attended a thanksgiving mass at ACK Ndunyu Njeru Church, North Kinangop ward where he also added that he has held constructive discussions with stakeholders and relevant agencies to secure all necessary approvals for the road’s construction.
He was in the company of Marsabit County Woman Representative Naomi Waqo, area MCA Edinald King’ori and specially elected member Milka Nyambura, among others.
In a sermon delivered by the Provost of All Saints Cathedral, Canon Rev. Sammy Wainaina, leaders were asked to put their trust in God and always “remember to thank Him who has blessed you with authority.”
“It is neither for the fear of the ballot nor people, or our institutions, that I’m fully dedicated to honestly serving the people ofNyandarua, but for the values and fear of God and desire to remain truthful in my deeds and proclamations,” the Governor told the congregation.
