PS NOMINEES APPEAR BEFORE REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE FOR VETTING
National Assembly Regional Development committee during yesterday's session

The National Assembly Departmental Committee on Regional Development chaired by Peter Lochakapong, yesterday undertook the vetting of nominees for Principal Secretary ASALS and Regional Development Mr. Idris Dokota and nominee for Principal Secretary State Department for Devolution, Ms.Teresia Mbaika.
Mr Idris promised to implement the strategic plan in the department and ensure implementation of government policies to ensure seamless service delivery and adherence to the Public Finance Management Act.
Further he acknowledged the challenges brought about by drought in the country and assured the Committee he is approved and appointed he “will come up with programs aimed at building capacity in ASALS to enable them resolve the recurring challenges of drought”.
Second to appear before the committee was Ms. Teresia Mbaika Malokwe who is a professional in health economics & policy and formerly served in various State Corporation boards.
She pointed out that indeed the issue of corruption at county level needed to be fixed by empowering the existing institutions that fight corruption and ensuring that county governments are held accountable on the use of public funds.
Ms. Malokwe further highlighted the need for the National assembly to work closely with county governments because, “Members of Parliament are tasked with the duty of allocating resources to different sectors of the Government”.
