A Project Dubbed ‘SISTARS’, Aims at Propelling Women in STEM
Data and related information on Women in Science Technology Education and Mathematics is required to inform decision, policy making and laws.
Women have been urged to come up and embrace the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, coded STEM.
This advisory emanated in a project launch dubbed Transforming Institutions to Advance Women Leaders in Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics, abbreviated as ‘SISTARS’ at the University of Nairobi
Prof. Faith Karanja, of the Faculty of Geospatial Engineering at the University of Nairobi called for women to be in the forefront in championing for STEM women leadership.
“We have data that shows women in technical and leadership roles in top multinational tech companies is below 30%,” said Prof. Faith Karanja

Prof. Ayub Gitau, Dean Faculty Engineering at University of Nairobi underscored the need for gender parity.
“Let’s not forget the Boy-Child even as we talk ‘SISTARS’, transforming Institutions to advance women leadership in STEM.
On his part, Prof. Blessing Mberu of the African Population and Health Research Center underscored the need to transform women leadership in STEM.
