An armed thug was fatally wounded on Tuesday night following a fierce shootout between detectives based at DCI-Makadara and three armed gangsters who were on a robbery mission a few minutes to midnight.
Sounds of deafening gunfire reverberated in the air, rat-a-tat-tat-tat!!! as the undercover sleuths silenced the armed thugs in retaliation, after they defied orders to surrender and turned against our men.
The shootout was followed by the whoosh of a speeding Subaru ya Mambaru flying past the estate, as the detectives went after the remaining two suspects who slipped into to the dimly lit alleys of Marigu~ini slums, their bodies riddled with bullet holes.
Earlier, the sleuths had received information through the #FichuakwaDCI hotline 0800722203, regarding the marauding gang that was attacking pedestrians along Mariakani road with reckless abandon.
At the scene of the incident, the lifeless body of the fallen thug lay sprawled in a storm water ditch with the tools of his craft, a home made firearm loaded with two live rounds of 9mm calibre and a communication gadget imitating a police walkie-talkie displayed close-by.
The scene of the incident was documented by detectives based at the Forensic Crime Scene Investigations unit while the body was removed to a city morgue awaiting autopsy.
Meanwhile, a manhunt for the rest of the accomplices is underway as detectives intensify patrols to ensure city residents enjoy the festive season peacefully.
