By Wanjohi. P. Mugambi
Am writing a letter
To you Mr. President
No not you the going
But rather the oncoming
Read it through the sentences
And see the sense in it
Call me whenever you don’t get it
And i would really explain it to you
Its about your millions of the figure
Which is nothing compared to our pain
We have received fron you promises
Yet we yearn for our pain
And you care not for our gains
Please be clear to us on this
For today you merry with us
Today you don’t hold tears when we cry
For you surely cry with us
Will it be same morrow
Will you be with us in our agony
Please respond Mr. President
For we deserve a better country
Keep back you long and heavy money
Which can only buy our freedom for the meantime
And after today
Few families can afford three meals a day
Yet you folly us and we kill ourselves
Our future cannot be bought
By your heavy sacks of money
Our future is no longer available
For our eyes are opened
What weย seek is freedom
That our fathers fought for.
Not Jomo or Odinga
But those that knew the value of the Kenyan soil
Your bilions figures
Is nothing compared to our lives
Don’t keep us in chains
Allow our destinies to thrive
As you reply to my letter
Yours faithfully i write
Wanjohi. P. Mugambi
Son of the Kenyan soil.
