Enock Sambo Wins Best Indigenous Book award at Mulher Forte African Literature awards 2023

South African Xitsonga author made it if this weekend in Botswana at Maun awards.

“it means a lot to me, for my language to be recognized internationally it is a milestone for a young man like having grown up in a location like Tembisa, it means any kid, any person can make it, if they get serious about their dreams, it is such an honor and a quench to my writing thirst that, yes, I can.”

His beautiful Lerato was there to support him and she has emphasized that she is behind his passion hundred percent.

Various Africans graced the event and it was such a poetry ensemble.

The owner of the awards Dr Otukile said that she is struggling to attain sponsors but nevertheless her dream is valid and she is grateful to Gaborone University College of law for the support.

It was such a challenge to get everything going and the fact that the awards are a success, she is grateful.

Enock is happy to mentor and grow Xitsonga literature and is open to regional collaborations so that he can open or broaden his horizons.

The Nhloti Wa Manana book is being translated to English and Isizulu, it simply means “The Mother’s tears!”

It is such a culture intact encounter.
