The glitzy modelling world has never lost its allure for the world’s most beautiful and talented men and women.

A successful career offers tantalizing opportunities to showcase the best and is a class of its own. Top-notch models have gone to earn big money in the past and continue to do so.
Over time acres of newsprint and hours of footage have been used to show the best of model photography in magazines, newspapers, billboards, posters, television, cinemas, and, with evolving times, social media.
Models help build brand names and boost the profits of big corporations. The global advertising industry thrives on the work of these models, who showcase the products and services of their advertisers.
Previously the forte of white western women and men, modelling is now opening to the rest of the world. A growing number of models from across the oceans have made a niche in the market.

Stunning Kashmiri model Chahat Kour is one of them, and she is steadily climbing the ladder of success.
The slim leggy 5’-8” tall 30-year-old is fast becoming the choice of fashion photographers in India. Soon, she will be on the register of international modelling agencies and their cameramen and women.
Her 34-28-36 trim figure makes Chahat a perfect model to show off her best in Indian attire, which she loves doing the most.

Born and educated in Jammu and Kashmir State of India, Chahat Kour lived in Jyoti Puram in her formative years before moving to Chandigarh to seek better prospects in her modelling career.
“There are better opportunities in fashion and Indian culture shoots, and Chandigarh is a vibrant city with people from all over India living in this cosmopolitan metropolis.”
“I have always wanted to be a model since I was a 14-year-old teenager,” she told me in an interview, “The fascination of standing in front of a camera always attracted me.”
Chahat has been modelling for some 14 years with an attractive portfolio. She has done fashion shows for big brands such as Lakme, Sara, Bebo, J D Sarees and the popular Country Club.
“I had a two-year contract with Lakme and was based in Delhi. It was an interesting and memorable experience.”
She models in both Indian and western attire but prefers the Indian.

“Our culture is vibrant and colourful,” she says, “Every season, innovative new styles emerge, and Indians fall in love with it.”
Chahat Kour also fondly remembers the Chandigarh Times fashion show in which the popular Bollywood actor Dalip Tahil was also there.
I asked her about her dream shoot and fashion show with her favourites, and she said, “Zara and Dalip Tahil.”
She has always found photographers very friendly. They treat her with professional courtesy. “I always enjoy these sessions, and I can enhance my skills with every shot.”
Chahat has also filmed video songs in the Punjabi language, attracting many new fans.

“I would welcome opportunities to do modelling and fashion shows in foreign locations such as London, Toronto, New York, and Paris.
Most models aspire to be film actors in Bollywood, and Chahat Kour does not want to be left behind.
She is waiting for that right opportunity.
“I will work with all actors because I will learn new skills from them.”
Her favourite role? “Police officer!” she says with a smile.
There is no doubt that Chahat Kour is still young, and given the right opportunity, she will make a significant mark on the big screen.
Former models and beauty queens have all had a career in Bollywood. Sushmita Sen, Zeenat Aman, Aishwarya Bachchan Rai, Juhi Chawla, Lara Dutta, Priyanka Chopra, Neha Dhupia, Día Mirza, Jaqueline Fernandez, Meenakshi Seshadri, Namrata Shirodkar, Pooja Batra, Tanushree Dutta, and Manushi Chillar have all either won titles or walked on the ramp and left memories on the big screen.
Looking at her rapid rise in the modelling industry, dedication, arduous work, and a big pot of luck, Chahat Kour believes the world is her oyster.
After all, the stars of the Bollywood screen also started from somewhere!
