Former Vice President Moody Awori has urged Busia Governor Dr. Paul Otuoma to work closely with the National Government with a view to enhancing development of the county.

Speaking yesterday to the press after paying a courtesy call to the governor at his office at Busia Agricultural Training Centre, Awori noted that Busia does not have enough revenue streams to support the County’s development.

“The county needs to collect its revenue but we know a county like Busia does not have many avenues for revenue, so we depend entirely on the national government,” he said, adding that the county government must work with the national government.

He further stated that the general elections are long gone hence the need for leaders to focus on development and the needs of the electorates.

“Let’s give the governor and his executive committee support so that they can give people their demand and fulfilment of their manifesto,” he said.

Awori also challenged elected leaders to look at the interest of the common mwananchi instead of their personal political interests.

“It is also important for the people to understand that it is their responsibility to elect a person who will reciprocate having given votes after elections,” he said.

The governor shared his plans to develop various sectors including Agriculture, Education, and Health among others.
