A first lady according to the 2010 Kenyan constitution has no official duties to render to the state. This however do not limit her to promote initiatives that are on going or rather starts initiatives to promote the living standards of the people in the country;the first lady has the audacity in uplifting such initiatives as she has the state influence and resources to advocate for such moves in the country.

The bid by Ida Odinga on digitalisation of education seems to be a replica of her first initiative in promotion of research in her former school in the construction of the Alma Mater Ogande Girls Secondary school library which includes ICT laboratory, learning centres and resource centre.
