At least eight feeder roads within Othaya constituency are set for upgrade to make locals easily access their homes.
The roads are lined up for gravelling, a process that was launched by the area lawmaker Michael Wambugu Wainaina alias Mt Kenya.
The roads, traversing the constituency, include Gatugi – Mbari ya Ngai Road, Kiyu – Kiruga Road, Mutundu Road, Kianjamba Road, Thunguri Road, Kwa Munyu Road/Kabebero Road and Rwathe-ini- Giakaru. Road.
The MP visited all the said roads where he met local residents and explained to them the Kenya Kwanza administration plan for them in various economic sectors.
He explained to them why there was a need to support the government’s initiative of collecting taxes and told them not to listen to naysayers.
The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) MP said some people were misleading citizens on some tax issues like that of Housing, saying such will only affect those who are employed but not every Kenyan.
Earlier, before launching the roads, the MP flagged off tonnes of relief supplies for distribution to the needy families in the constituency.
He said the supplies will be given out to about 2,400 families as they await to harvest from their farms.
Those who spoke during the visits in various parts of the constituency thanked him for his kind gesture in ensuring they have good roads and care for the needy in the area.
Further, they observed that since his election in August last year, he has initiated a unique project of putting up decent houses for the underprivileged in the area.
This project, which the MP is carrying out with support from well-wishers, is targeting to build timber houses for all those who have been living in mud houses within the constituency.
So far, more than 100 families have benefited from this special scheme as others await their turn.
