Social Justice Activist and renowned media personality Janet Mbugua has taken a moment to share with us her thoughts
“How do we supplement our current education system, to address evolving needs of students, teachers, parents?
Here’s some ideas that came out of the BIC Edu Talk sessions yesterday:
⁃ Keep children’s dreams alive
⁃ Harness the power of the internet by platforms like Tik Tok to find children where they are
– Enhance awareness for parents, scale their knowledge of trends especially in New Media
⁃ Platforms like puppet shows, community dialogue, EdTech and more, need to be integrated
This narrows down what the sentiments were and I have to say, each year, the takeaways from the BIC Edu Talk always leave us with much to think about.
And while some of the above might be stating the obvious, unless we truly rethink education in a critical way, we’re failing to harness the potential of generations to come.
Think Pop Culture, think Innovation, think Arts. S.T.E.M. So many varied platforms!
But before all this, we must ensure access to education, equitably, consistently. And we MUST push for resourcing education as well. Our children deserve this!
Thank you to BIC Kenya, @millocomms and the amazing panelists from both sessions, many of whom I’ve tagged And to you, the public –
I’m thanking you in advance, for joining us in pushing for better policies and resourcing towards strengthening our education system(s).”
