The League takes note of the controversial handling of your application to be in the ballot as an independent candidate in the 2022 general elections.
After much reflection and consultation, we have come to the conclusion that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, hereinafter the commission, must have been carefully careless to dismiss your application on sketchy grounds of alleged non-compliance. This decision has been influenced by the fact that the commission is the very same entity which has dismally failed to receive and scrutinize your application documents.
Sadly, the commission has failed almost perfectly to dispose of its Constitutional mandate under ARTICLES 248 and 249 of the Constitution which envisage an independent commission not subject to direction or control by any person or authority to say the least. The effect of this blunder by the commission is the unfortunate and dismal infringement of your constitutional rights under ARTICLES 1, 2, 3, 10, 19, 20, 21, 27, 28, 29, 36, 38, 47 and 259 of the Constitution.
The League, therefore, being a social-political movement offering refuge to oppressed members of the Affirmative Action group herein the Youth, Women and Persons with Disabilities, would like to kindly but urgently offer solidarity to you- Mr. Kigame for the unfortunate behaviour by the commission regarding your candidature.
To us, the conduct is not only unconstitutional null and void, but also falls short of the general principles of fairness, equality, equity, good- faith and logic. Our considered view therefore, is similar to that of the Learned Justice Kiage who once rendered himself as follows, “It matters not if you curve Caesar as a dish fit for the gods, or hue him as a carcass fit for the hounds, the cuts are mortal either ways.” The decision by the commission to lock you out of the ballot is unconstitutional irregardless of any attempt it would make to justify itself. Or rather, in the words of Justice Kiage, slicing Caesar into a dish to be used by gods does not make the slicing any less painful to what would have been the case if the slicing was made to prepare food for street dogs.
That said, we would like to inform you that we have already dispatched a team of over 30 student leaders with their following to stand in solidarity with you in making online petitions and manually sponsoring your hashtags in twitter and other media platforms. Subsequently, the team will be making a press release in due time to condemn this heinous conduct by the commission and demanding to have you on the ballot for the People to exercise their sovereignty in deciding whether or not they think you are fit for the Presidency. Further, the League would like to donate a team of 5 young law graduates to work hand in hand with the reserved law firm for free.
It is our sincere hope that this will help in the Kigame campaigns. We are also open to considering any new ideas from you, Kongamano la Mapinduzi or your secretariat thereof on how we could relevantly contribute in our quest to stand in solidarity with you and the people of Kenya who have strongly demanded that we do.
