Isiolo North Qualifies For Moses Kuria Cup Tournament Finals After Thrashing Othaya Team

Isiolo North Soccer team thrashed Othaya 3-0 in the Moses Kuria Main Cup Tournament during semi finals held at Kinunga Stadium, Tetu, Nyeri County.

The team will now meet the Ruiru team in the grand finale at Kirigiti Stadium, Kiambu County, on 7th July 2024.

The teams went to draw in the first half but during the second half, Isiolo team doubled their effort and scored the three goals before the final whistle.

The winner of the tournament will take home Ksh5 Million while the Runnersup will pocket Ksh3 Million.

Hundreds of Isiolo and Nyeri counties fans attended the thrilling event graced by sponsor and Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria among other dignitaries.

“I have invited His Excellency President Dr. William Ruto, retired President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to grace the finals. There will also be a curtain raiser match between Gor Mahia FC and AFC Leopards.” Said the CS while presenting tokens to the teams.

Isiolo North and Ruiru will now proceed to residential camp for two weeks ahead of the finals. The camp is also sponsored by Kuria

After the Moses Kuria Cup Tournament Mt. Kenya Region edition finals, the tournament will move to Western Kenya.

During the semifinals played at Kinunga Stadium, Principal Secretary, State Department for Petroleum, Mohamed Liban, 15 MCAs from Kirinyaga County led by their Deputy Speaker, Football Kenya Federation officials, among other leaders from Isiolo, Nyeri and Kirinyaga counties were also in attendance.

Also present was Nyeri Town MP Duncan Maina Mathenge.

Earlier in the Ruriri Community Shield, Mukurwe-ini trounced Isiolo South 3-1. Mukurwe-ini will faceoff with Nakuru East in the grand finale of Ruriri Community Shield to be held at Karati National Stadium, Gatundu, Kiambu County, on 6th July 2024. The winning team will pocket Ksh. 0.5 Million and the second team will take home Ksh. 0.3 Million.

Third place playoffs for Moses Kuria Tournament Main Cup shall be between Olkalau and Othaya FC to be played at Embu Stadium on 22 June 2024.

Ruriri Community Shield playoffs shall be between Isiolo South and Gatundu North, to be played at Embu Stadium on 22 June 2024.
