Othaya constituency Member of Parliament Michael Wambugu Wainaina distributed dozens of wheel chairs to local residents who are abled differently.
The wheel chairs were made available courtesy of him and the Metropolitan Non-GovernmentalOrganisation.
While presenting the donations, the lawmaker noted that the wheelchairs, in addition to providing mobility were also appropriate in improving the physical health and quality of life of the users by among other things, helping in reducing common issues such as pressure sores, progression of deformities and improving respiration and digestion.
The MP who is also a member of Social Protection Parliamentary committee noted those abled differently should be treated equally with respect so that they live normal lives.
This was the second consignment after others were provided a few months ago.
The MP’s office has also been mapping out those affected in the constituency so that they can benefit from the National Government.
