Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA) board chairman Enos Njeru has secured his directorship seat, where he will be representing tea farmers from the Embu region.
Njeru was voted back unopposed during the exercise held at Mungania Tea Factory last Friday. With the direct ticket, Njeru is expected to defend his national seat in a few days’ time.
“Going unopposed was a sign of confidence and trust they have in me by leading and serving tea sector and farmers across the country. I can’t fail to congratulate all the re-elected and newly elected board members from other zones,” he said after he was issued with a certificate.
He added, “I pledge to work closely, passionately, diligently and with high level of integrity and humility with the new team to maintain sanity and steer growth in the tea industry to increase returns to our farmers. I will champion tea consumption culture in our country and, if possible, innovate new products that will relate better with the younger generation,”
Of his desire to defend his national seat and to lead the more than 650,000 small scale tea growers, Njeru quipped, “I request and urge all the elected board members to support me in the forthcoming National chairmanship position for me to be able to deliver what I started in the past one year of my chairmanship,”.
