Acting Clerk of the National Assembly, Ms. Serah Kioko with Senator Moses Wetangula
President Uhuru Kenyatta yesterday notified the Nation on the First Sitting of the Senate of the 13th Parliament which shall be held on Thursday, 8th September, 2022 at 9 am in the Senate Chamber, Main Parliament Buildings, Nairobi.
The business to be transacted at the Sitting shall be the swearing-in of the Senators.
Any person who is eligible for election as Speaker or as the Deputy Speaker of the Senate in terms of Article 106 (1) of the Constitution and who is interested in contesting for these positions is advised to collect nomination papers from office of the Clerk of the Senate.
The nomination papers should be picked as follows; Monday 5th September, 2022 between 1pm and 8pm; Tuesday, 6th September, 2022 between 7am and 8pm; and Wednesday, 7th September, 2022 between 7am and 2pm.
Completed nomination papers, together with the Curriculum vitae of each candidate and the relevant supporting documents should be returned to the Office of the Clerk of the Senate not later than 2.30pm on Wednesday, 7th September, 2022.
Following the Notification of the First Sitting, and the Declaration of Vacancies in the offices of the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker by the Acting Clerk of the National Assembly, Ms. Serah Kioko, several interested persons have picked up nomination papers this evening.
Persons interested in the two positions have until Wednesday 7th September at 12.30pm to collect nomination papers, and to return the completed nomination forms on the same day between 2.30pm -8.30pm.
So far, the following persons have shown interest for the two positions :

(iii) Mr. Isaac Alouch Polo
(iv) Hon. Farah Maalim
(v) Hon. Moses Masika Wetangula
(vi) Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka
(vii) Hon. Robert Gichimu Githinji.
