In a heartfelt gesture of support, the Kenya Police DT SACCO has continued its noble initiative of awarding school fees to children of their fallen heroes.
The ongoing program, held in a Nairobi hotel, has become a beacon of hope for many families and ensures that the education of these children is not hindered by financial difficulties.
During the ceremony, children from primary, secondary, college, and university levels were awarded scholarships that will cover their education fees.
The initiative, which began several years ago, aims to honour the sacrifices made by the officers who lost their lives in the line of duty by supporting their children’s education.
Speaking at the event, , Mr David Mategwa, Chairman of Kenya National Police DT Sacco, lauded the SACCO’s efforts, stating that the program is not just about providing financial support, it is also about ensuring that the dreams of these children are kept alive.
“ Education is the best gift we can offer them, and it is heartening to see Kenya Police DT SACCO take this responsibility seriously. We are here because of children of our members who passed on while on duty.” said Mategwa.
He further reiterated their commitment to the program, by emphasizing that they would continue to support the education of these children through to university.
“Our heroes may have fallen, but their legacy lives on through their children. It is our duty to ensure that they have the best possible opportunities to succeed in life,” Mategwa remarked.
The beneficiaries and their families expressed deep gratitude for the support, acknowledging that the financial assistance has significantly eased the burden of educational expenses.
The event was graced by several dignitaries, including cooperative officers, Sacco officials, and other distinguished guests who commended the Sacco for its continued commitment to the welfare of its members and their families.
This initiative by Kenya Police DT Sacco not only honors the memory of the fallen heroes but also exemplifies the spirit of community and solidarity within the police service, ensuring that the children left behind have a bright and hopeful future.
