Peer Pressure
By: Samuel Mando Tucker
Worth Noting:
- There’s a major effect of someone who’s in a peer group and has weak willpower, he/she is challenged as the victim of drug abuse. Because of their weak foundation of willpower, most of them cannot stick to their willingness and unwillingness which is very powerful to make one abstain from being chronic victims of peer pressure.
- Well, we know what peer pressure is, but many don’t know what are the causes of young people being part of it. So as a writer I’ve noticed five things to be the cause or reason for them even being part of a particular group established by peer pressure.
Well in the 21st century, we do see the looks of old people and that of the youngsters, to say people that have carried their age before the time are the youth. Not because of peer influence or any other road paved by their friends, but it’s because of the foundation of their willpower.
Well, I may say peer influence is just like a beggar controlling his stick, what am trying to say here is that you are not seeing your actual path but the stick does see but not on his control ( You can be among your peers but you cannot be a score of their control).
A proper analysis of peer pressure is when you perpetrate something you don’t want to do, but you did it because the plug was removed by your friends which know the path you’re trudging. As a writer, I cannot say peer influence has greatly created a lot of negativity in this coming generation, due to some of the happenings in our various societies you can attest that the development is highly done by the youth. Some, sudden strikes that usually broke out in our society, the youth are the people who sometimes defend their areas before the intervention of the government or the police.
Well, I proposed not all the youth are victims of peer influence. One thing that caused such is the WILL POWER, we all know that before an action is taken the willpower battle with the body and if the willpower is weak the body does what it wants but if the willpower is strong the body cannot do anything.
You and I know that peer pressure is established on two bases; one which is the negative and one which is positive. As of the views of our community, the negative establishment is highly seen and feel hostility towards people of age. These young people are challenged greatly by the thoughts of these societies, it is not that they want to be pioneering all the negativity in the streets but it’s because they’re not encouraged by these societies, governments and family members. These greatly impact the weaknesses of their willpower, almost there is no called inspiration for these young people who are living by the principles of the streets.
One thing that I’m seriously against is the blame that has been cast on peer pressure, which isn’t too powerful to take over our minds but logically willpower is the main man that played the whole show, but we still couldn’t figure it out so easily.
There’s a major effect of someone who’s in a peer group and has weak willpower, he/she is challenged as the victim of drug abuse. Because of their weak foundation of willpower, most of them cannot stick to their willingness and unwillingness which is very powerful to make one abstain from being chronic victims of peer pressure.
Well, we know what peer pressure is, but many don’t know what are the causes of young people being part of it. So as a writer I’ve noticed five things to be the cause or reason for them even being part of a particular group established by peer pressure.
REASONS OR CAUSE
- NO ATTENTION FROM PARENTS
- BECAUSE THEY HAVE BEEN EXUDED BY SOCIETY
- TO BE SOCIAL AND LIVELY
- TO BE ACTIVE IN THE SOCIETY
- TO BELONG AND BE ACCEPTED BY FRIENDS.
I may say that the reasons are not too important for one to be carried away by peer pressure. But here, one can be living in the perception of peer group but cannot be part of their addiction(negative basis) if only he/she is well built based on their willpower.
But of all these reasons, willpower can help you in getting out there to learn various skills than following the things of peer pressure so easily. Also, it does help one to resist the strong character of the influence( It can help you to say no to the drug addiction, sex, alcohol and more) and it does make you firm on your decisions.
THINGS THAT MIGHT GET YOU TO BE STRONG IN YOUR WILLPOWER
- Find a mentor/a coach
- Read inspirational books
- Be firm in your religion
- Don’t be afraid to ask questions from elder people.
- Have a plan
- Set yourself up for success
- Have one goal at a time
- Be devoted to what you’re doing
- Do and complete pertinent tasks daily.
- Always take full rest
So in summary, peer influence is just a result of wavering willpower.
Have strong willpower and nobody will sway you into something you’re not comfortable with.
As a youth of the 21st century, you should be able to have a say in everything concerning your life. Gone are the days when peer influence was a thing, it’s now just an acceptable excuse for flimsy willpower.
Feed your willpower, take good care of it until it grows stronger than the spirit of peer influence, and you will forever remain on pages in this 21st century.
