The Media Council Commemorates the Tenth Annual Journalism Excellence Awards

The Royal Media Service (RMS) reaps big at the 10th Annual Journalism Excellence Award (AJEA).The Gala was held at the Safari Park Hotel on Friday. The Annual Media Summit is a regional meeting of all media practioners who have been recognized by the Media Council of Kenya.
The summits aim to bring all stakeholders of media to deliberate on pertinent issues affecting the Media sector. It is also an opportunity to discuss, recognize and award the media practioners and stakeholders in Media for their stance achievement in promoting their professional from a free independent media.
The Chief Guest at the event was Daniel Musinga who is the President of Court of Appeal. The Keynote Speaker of the Summit was Nancy Gathungu who is the Auditor General in Media.
The Annual Journalism Excellence Award (AJEA) is a continuous annual celebration for recognition of Journalists excellence and stance achievement in Kenya. The awards have been given since 2012 and 2022 marks their 10th celebration. The awards are given to print, broadcast and digital Journalism which is the emerging trends in Media.
The Royal Media Service (RMS) came out of the award with 10 awards as being emerged the best in promoting the Media industry. The Royal Media Service Journalists scooped several awards at the 2022 Annual Journalism Excellence Awards (AJEA).
Moreover, Zipporah Kariya and Purity emerged the winner in Investigative Reporting Category. Mohammed Adam was nominated as the Camerapeson of the year. Naiponoi Lepapa was crowned the overall Journalist of the year for her investigative story on the surrogacy industry in Kenya. Rachael Nakitare emerged the lifetime Achievement Award for broadcast producer and editor.
