Githunguri Member of Parliament, Hon. Gathoni Wamuchomba, has issued a searing condemnation of the Kenyan police force over its failure to address the alarming surge in child abductions. In an impassioned statement, the outspoken legislator questioned the ability of the Inspector General of Police (IG) to safeguard Kenyan children and ensure public safety.
“If the Inspector General of the Kenyan Police doesn’t know who is abducting our children and where they are being taken, could we assume that terrorists are back in our streets?” Wamuchomba asked, echoing the fears of many concerned citizens.
The MP did not mince her words, accusing the police, through the IG, of effectively admitting to failure by their inaction and lack of concrete responses. “The police, through the IG, has FULLY inflicted a SELF-indictment and an express statement of FAILURE to protect Kenyans. Citizens can now defend themselves in any way,” she declared.
Hon. Wamuchomba’s remarks come at a time of growing anxiety across the country over the fate of missing children. Reports of kidnappings and disappearances have sparked outrage, with families left in anguish as they search for answers. The lawmaker challenged the government to prioritize finding the missing children and restoring public confidence in its security agencies.
“Where are our missing children?” she demanded, urging authorities to act swiftly and decisively to end the nightmare faced by affected families.
Her fiery critique has resonated with Kenyans, many of whom share her frustration over what they perceive as government inaction. Social media platforms have been awash with calls for accountability, as citizens demand better protection and transparency from their leaders and law enforcement agencies.
Hon. Wamuchomba’s comments have also reignited debate on the state of national security, with critics highlighting the need for reforms within the police force to ensure it effectively fulfills its mandate to protect all Kenyans.
As the country grapples with the growing crisis, the haunting question posed by Hon. Wamuchomba lingers: Where are our children, and who will bring them home?
