CS Kagwe Holds Strategic Discussions With FAO Kenya Deputy Country Director

Agriculture and Livestock Development Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe yesterday held a consultative meeting with the Deputy Country Director and Head of Programs of the FAO Kenya Mr. Hamisi Williams at Kilimo House. The discussions focused on strengthening the longstanding partnership between FAO and the Kenyan government, which has spanned for over 48 years.
Kagwe expressed gratitude for FAO’s invaluable contributions in aligning policies and programs, capacity building, and financial support across agriculture, resource management, and policy development sectors. He emphasized the importance of these collaborations in driving Kenya’s agricultural transformation agenda.
Key initiatives supported by FAO include the digitization of agricultural systems through the Kenya Integrated Agricultural Management Information System (KIAMIS), which has registered close to seven million farmers and facilitated the distribution of subsidized fertilizers via eVouchers.
The CS and the Director committed to enhancing collaboration with the shared goal of alleviating hunger and poverty, building resilience, and promoting value addition in key agricultural value chains.
Kagwe noted that the renewed partnership underscores the government’s commitment to reforming policy frameworks, promoting technology uptake, and ensuring food security for all Kenyans.
