The Director of Public Complaints at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Headquarters, has underscored the critical role of analytical thinking and applied research skills in combating criminal activities. Speaking at the official opening of the third cohort of the Operational Intelligence Analysis course at the National Criminal Investigations Academy (NCIA), Mr. Bernard Nyakwaka emphasized that these competencies are essential for enhancing participants’ ability to produce and present actionable intelligence reports. Such skills, he noted, are crucial for fostering a safer and more secure society. The two-week course has brought together crime research experts from various regions across the country. Designed to equip participants with advanced techniques in crime intelligence analysis, the program aims to empower them to dismantle complex criminal networks more effectively. This initiative aligns with the DCI’s broader objective of maintaining a competitive edge in the ever-evolving field of criminal investigations. He further expressed his gratitude to the Canadian Mounted Police Attaché’s office in Kenya and the International Justice Mission (IJM) for their invaluable support in facilitating this advanced training program.
Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga has urged ODM leaders who are still harsh critics of the government to go slow and support the broad-based government.
Wanga said since the ODM party joined the broad-based government, the Nyanza region had benefitted from various infrastructural developments, hence the need to support the government. According to Wanga, it is not appropriate for leaders from ODM to criticise the leadership of President Ruto after the party’s top leadership, including Mr. John Mbadi, Hassan Joho and Wycliffe Oparanya, were appointed into the cabinet.
Leaders allied to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party gathered in Kakamega on Sunday to pray for Raila Odinga’s bid for the African Union Commission (AUC) Chairmanship. Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa hosted the leaders who expressed confidence that Raila will be elected as the Chairman of AUC. “Let’s pray for Raila Odinga because we have always been almost there, starting in 2007, 2013, 2017 and 2022, but this time round all of us have confidence that our party leader, who is the champion of devolution, will be elected on Saturday,” Governor Barasa noted.
Police officers stationed at Archer’s Police Post have arrested a notorious lone highway robber who has been terrorizing truck drivers at the Isiolo-Garbatula Junction. The suspect, 36-year-old Ibrahim Hassan, was arrested after a chase that ended in a crash near the Police Post. Posing as a stranded traveler, the suspect flagged down a white Mitsubishi lorry at the Isiolo-Garbatula junction, pretending to seek lift to Archer’s town. The kind-hearted driver, embodying the spirit of a good Samaritan, agreed to give Hassan a ride. However, upon reaching Archer’s town, Hassan refused to alight as agreed, and instead brandished a knife with which he threatened the driver, forcing him to continue the journey. Seizing a rare opportunity, the driver jumped out of the lorry and escaped unhurt, and immediately reported the incident to a standby team of police officers at the Archer’s Post. A swift pursuit was launched.
Centre for Mathematics, Science and Technology Education in Africa (CEMASTEA) Programme Coordinator Beatrice Macharia encouraged parents to support teachers in identifying abilities, competencies, and interests of their children when they are at the discovery age. Macharia, who was speaking at Moi Kabartonjo Junior Secondary School (JSS) in Baringo North Sub County during a STEM mentorship and outreach programme, stated that it was from their early life that parents were able to notice certain interests and personalities of these learners, which could lead to their career destiny.
“Parents should see the positive in what their children are doing at home, such as when they tamper with our radios or when they come up with model aeroplanes,” said Macharia.
The Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Felix Koskei yesterday held a consultative meeting with the Commission on Administrative Justice (The Ombudsman), led by Chairman Charles Orinda Dulo. The Commission appraised us on the status of the execution of their mandate and possible areas of collaboration with the executive in the quest to enhance citizen-centric service delivery across the public sector. Koskei encouraged the Commission to strengthen its oversight role and enhance effectiveness in addressing maladministration within the public service.
