The first page of the petition as filed in the Nyeri High Court
By Our Reporter

Jubilee party Director of Election and former Kieni constituency Member of Parliament Kanini Kega has challenged last month’s General Election that saw him lose the parliamentary seat.
Kega filed an Election petition on Wednesday at the High Court in Nyeri town.
The petition, listed as the first in the Nyeri Court was filed by James Maina Munene and Geoffrey Wahome King’ori. Munene served as the chairman of Kieni National Government – Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) during Kega’s second term as MP which began in 2017. King’ori is a businessman.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Kieni constituency Returning Officer and the new MP are listed as the respondents.
The filing of the petition comes a few days after one of the IEBC employee in the constituency was charged in another Nyeri Court with irregularly issuing a voter with five presidential ballot papers and two parliamentary ballot papers.
Mt Kenya Times ePaper will next week be publishing details of the petition.
