Ruiru Member of Parliament Simon King’ara has expressed gratitude and pride following the assent of the Land (Amendment) Bill, 2022 by President William Samoei Ruto, marking a major milestone in the protection and management of Kenya’s public land.
“Today, I am deeply humbled and honoured to witness the Land (Amendment) Bill, 2022 — which I had the privilege of sponsoring — officially assented into law by President William Ruto,” King’ara announced.
The newly enacted law seeks to safeguard public land by ensuring that all public land is issued with title deeds, protecting it from land grabbers and facilitating proper registration and management of land owned by public institutions such as schools, hospitals, and government agencies.
“This law is a strong step toward ending historical injustices and protecting the future of our children,” said King’ara. “Public land belongs to the people of Kenya, and through this law, we are ensuring it remains so.”
King’ara thanked Parliament, the Ministry of Lands, and the President for their support in turning this important piece of legislation into law. He reaffirmed his commitment to serving the people of Ruiru and Kenya with dedication and integrity.

What Mr Kingara is omitting to comment on is the issue of converting freehold titles to leases and hence subjected to annual rates to the government. This will lead to eventual dispossesion of majority of small land owners who will not be in position to settle this rates. You must be one of the worst people who will harm his people.
