The late FT Nyammo

Former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga died less than two weeks following the demise of his neighbour at Karen, Nairobi.
The land in which Raila has been living in was sold to him by businessman and politician Francis Thumbi Nyammo who was fondly referred to as FT Nyammo.
The late Nyammo, served as Tetu Member of Parliament between 2008 and 2013. He is the one who ousted former Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Prof Wangari Maathai.
However, during the 2013 General Elections, Nyammo lost the parliamentary seat to Ndung’u Githinji.
Nyammo annexed part of his large piece of land, along Ngong road, Kerrapon road in Karen and sold to Raila a few years ago.
Apart from being neighbours, both Raila and Nyammo had some striking similarities that they wanted followed upon their demise
While Raila wanted to be buried with 72 hours, Nyammo had indicated that he wanted to be disposed off, through cremation within 24 hours of his death.
Nyammo’s wish was followed to the letter as he was cemented within his wishes time.
Four days after his demise, his family hosted a memorial service where tens of people, including his family, relatives and friends attended.
Yesterday, Sammy Njayakio, who was a former aide to Nyammo posted in his Facebook thus; “The Two Good Neighbours, Hse no 22 $23, Decide to Accompany each Other in their Journey. We pray them Safe Travels and Happy Arrivals.Fare Thee Well Icons,” in reference to the demise of Nyammo and Raila.
