Hundreds Of Mourners Attend Kigumo Burial As Gachagua Highlights Witima Attack Evidence And Calls For Unity

By MKT Reporter

Hundreds of mourners attended the burial of Mrs. Jane Wanjiku Kamau, mother to former Kigumo MP and Cabinet Minister Jamleck Kamau, in Kigumo Constituency, Murang’a County, where political leaders used the occasion to address national concerns.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua told the crowd he had evidence, including an intelligence report and satellite images, identifying those involved in the Witima church attack in Othaya two weeks ago. He accused President William Ruto of orchestrating the incident and gave the Inspector General of Police until February 16 to apprehend the perpetrators.

Speaking after the burial, Gachagua, accompanied by leaders including Dr. Fred Matiang’i, led a gathering at Muthithi Shopping Centre, reaffirming their commitment to listening to citizens and addressing their concerns. He also expressed willingness to reconcile with former President Uhuru Kenyatta, describing a handshake between them as inevitable for the nation’s unity.

United Opposition leaders, including Martha Karua and Justin Muturi, criticized the government’s performance and called for collective action to address economic hardships, pledging that a change of government was forthcoming through democratic means.

Other notable attendees included Lee Kinyanjui, Raphael Tuju, Kanini Kega, and David Murathe.

Speakers urged tolerance and respect among Kenyans with divergent political views as the country approaches the next election cycle.

The event reflected a mix of mourning, political discourse and calls for accountability and national cohesion.
