Kanja puts recruits through their paces ahead of Kiganjo passing-out

Inspector General of the National Police Service Douglas Kanja yesterday presided over a full-dress rehearsal parade at the National Police College main campus in Kiganjo, Nyeri County, ahead of the passing-out ceremony scheduled for Thursday.
The rehearsal marked the culmination of a nine-month training programme for the latest recruit cohort — one that Kanja described as having demonstrated exceptional discipline and endurance throughout.
“Policing is a sacred calling,” Kanja told the assembled recruits. He urged them to serve as professional, accountable ambassadors of change, committed to upholding the rule of law and to protecting the lives and property of all Kenyans, residents and visitors alike.
He also used the occasion to address mental health — a subject that has gained increasing attention within the service — encouraging the young officers to make use of support services available to them as they transition into active duty.
Kanja expressed gratitude to College Commandant Nyale Munga and the instructing staff for the quality of training delivered. Among senior officers present were Deputy Inspector General Eliud Lagat, GSU Commandant Johana Tonui and Director of Corporate Communication Muchiri Nyaga.
The passing-out ceremony takes place tomorrow.
