Kericho County Aspirants in United Democratic Alliance Party (UDA) have asked the party to conduct free, fair and credible nominations come April.
Dr. Erick Mutai who is vying for Kericho Gubernatorial seat using UDA has expressed the need for credible nominations unlike other parties where aspirants have had challenges like missing nomination certificates.
“We as aspirants are asking UDA to make sure to put favourable procedures like enough ballot papers and to see that it arrives on time so as not to lock anyone out in the voting process,” Mutai said.
In his view, Mutai said the recently passed Political Act is suspicious in its timing saying that it is malicious and could be used to lock out other parties and favour some that are supported by the government.
Mutai who is gaining popularity really fast in the region further asked Kericho residents to register as voters in numbers so as to exercise their democratic right to vote in April nominations as well as during August General Elections.
Mutai was speaking on Friday at a consultative meeting between UDA National Elections Board and all UDA aspirants from Kericho County at a hotel in the outskirts of Kericho town, Chaired by the board Chair Anthony Mwaura.
Mwaura said that they held the meeting to consult and map up the way forward so as to make sure to have credible nomination, and he assured the aspirants of satisfiable nominations without hiccups.
