“The Old Man and the Sea” is a story created by Ernest Hemingway.
While reading it, I remembered that 5 years ago, I had closed ΒΌ of the book without reading it.
Just like today my classmate asked “What book are you reading?” When he heard my answer, I noticed that the interest in his eyes faded. As if he was like me 5 years ago.
Yes, I did not finish this story many years ago, but I was convinced that another classmate coldly assessed it as a work about “An Old Man and a Child” was wrong. And I was ashamed of my past self.
It is surprising that the writer was able to convey the tenacity, patience and endurance of a person through such an image.
I was disgusted with myself, thinking that sometimes I would get nervous about a problem that seemed like the devil.
The fact that the old man did not lose himself in such an impossible situation and did not give up is, let’s say in the language of a hero:
“I will show what a human child is capable of and what he can withstand and endure,” he said, and he managed to do it.
It’s wonderful that the old man was able to save himself from the destructive process called loneliness by talking sometimes with a bird, sometimes with a fish, and sometimes with himself.π
I’ll leave you with the concluding part that I came across during my reading, as always, the conclusion is from you, my dears..!
“…But the human child was not created to be defeated and to be satisfied with the defeat,” he said.
“Man can be destroyed, but not defeated.”
