Human beings are social in nature. They not only like interacting with each other but also like being acknowledged and admired by those they do not directly interact with. Everyone feels great whenever he is thanked for the good works he has done. Such compliments makes someone feel great, the esteem is boosted.
Kings and leaders worldwide since time in memorial have been known by their great admiration of choirs which sing for them advocating their principles and cheering them for their achievements no matter how awkward in policy making and implementing these leaders could be.
The military has also had bands whose mandate is to sing in honour of their commander in chief who in most times happens to be the ruling king. The ruler continues doing to them good things due to the fact that they are not only loyal but also willing to openly express their loyalty to him.
Most of the aides to the rulers are usually the most royal ones, one of the parameters used to examine such kind of closeness and allegiance is how much is one willing to sacrifice on behalf of the other and in this case it is the aide willing to sacrifice on behalf of the boss. Through such kind of selflessness the master feels safer when such a person is around and their friendship deepens.
