doorway

By Norman Mwale ‘The PenPusher’

Of now l see you

Standing at the doorway

Leaving a shameless shadow

In the face of your mother

Who once been a beautiful girl

You faced the moonless night

Like a maimed hornbill

Your thoughts swag in the dark sky

Flying to unborn moments

Leaving your people groaning

In the pain

Of your unceremonial departure,

There at l see little hope,

Though you insist

Facing The moonless night,

Like a dauntless owl

Your mind linger In the sky

And roost in bare tree-tops,

By and by

l see no more shadows at the doorway,

l hear your footsteps clumping

Miles away from the door

As thoughts squirm with mad reality!
