Departmental Committee on Blue Economy and Irrigation

The Departmental Committee on Blue Economy and Irrigation, chaired by Hon. Kangogo Bowen (Marakwet East), is holding a two-today engagement forum with officials from the State departments for Water, Irrigation and Blue Economy.
The engagement forum is to deliberate on the first Supplementary Estimates for the 2022/2023 financial year.
At the meeting, committee was also presented with the Government’s plans on 10,000 water projects across the country to solve water scarcity. The water projects include the construction of boreholes, water pans, small dams and springs.
“The government has embarked on an ambitious plan that seeks to deliver on its agenda of clean, safe and adequate water for all Kenyans.
Under the “water 10,000 program”, the Ministry aims at undertaking various water projects across the country under short, medium and long term,” said Water secretary Eng. Samuel Alima.
The Chairperson of the Committee, Hon. Bowen, put the officials on notice about starting new projects without completing the ongoing projects which end up leaving many stalled projects. He also urged the state departments to closely work with the Committee to ensure service delivery to all deserving Kenyans.
The Committee will tommorow 14th February, 2023 meet with Officials from the state department for Blue Economy on Supplementary Estimates 1.

Stanley Muthama (Lamu West), Hon. Gachagua George (Ndaragwa), Hon.Mohammed Adow (Wajir South), Hon. Eric Mwangi (Mathira), Hon. Amina Mnyazi (Malindi), Hon. Eng. Paul Nzengu (Mwingi North), Hon. Bernard Muriuki (Mbeere South) and Hon. Dorothy Muthoni (Nominated).
