On the 30th September 1966, the Bechuanaland protectorate became Botswana, and the jubilation began.
Botswana gained its independence from the British colonial rule. The democracy denoted the freedom of the people to vote and have a government in place to run the affairs of the country.
Before the British ruled Botswana indirectly with the aid of the chiefs. The three chiefs who are Sebele of Bakwena tribe, Khama of the Bangwato tribe,Bathoen of the Bangwaketsi went to negotiate the freedom of the land in Britain and they successfully managed.
In the above picture I stand infront of the monument in the heart of the city where try were honored for their noble attainment.
It has been a long road, Sir Seretse Khama became the first President, of the republic of Botswana, and he elected a legislation to help him run the country, later on he passed on 13 July 1981, and president Sir ketumile Joni Quett Masire took the baton.
President Masire retired reigned from 1980 to 1998, he died in June 2017.
The Economist President Festus Gontebanye Mogae ruled from 1998 to 2008, he was very effective activist of HIV/ Aids and is a reknown author.
In 2008 Lieutenant General President Ian Khama Seretse Khama began to rule and he retired April 2018.

He gave the call to President Mokgweetsi Eric Masisi, who led the Boipuso Eve celebrations beautifully yesterday and still holding the forte.
Botswana comes a long way, education attest to around 85%, infrastructures from 1966 to now the improvement is vast and visible.
The bushy CBD in Gaborone has been filled with buildings and the roads are improving well.
The importance of democracy is to liberate the people and it is amazing to have diamonds in Orapa, Jwaneng, and this has helped in improving the health system, education too.
Flora and fauna or wildlife and heritage sites are making a good impact in Botswana as it contributes more to revenue of the country.
Agriculture has also improved and Batswana can safely say they are going somewhere.
