Vocal Nyeri County governor Mwalimu Mutahi Kahiga has challenged a section of Members of Parliament to make good their threats of tabling an Impeachment motion against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Kahiga, a close ally of the Deputy President said Kenyans who support Gachagua were keenly watching the unfolding scenario over the matter.
“Bring it on!!!!,” Kahiga busted as he said Gachagua had done nothing wrong to warrant such a move, which he quarried whether President William Ruto would sanction as he added, “such move has its consequences”.
While calling on leaders to consider putting efforts on serious issues affecting Kenyans, the governor noted that the country has many pressing issues that leaders should be addressing instead of focusing on such trivial matters.
Kahiga who has of late come out as the fearless defender of the Deputy President said the grounds of impeachment being flouted by those behind the scheme were frivolous and would not hold any case against him.
“One of the ground is that he opposed the Finance Bill in the cabinet. If this is true, we should clap for him because Kenyans rejected it. It shows he had ground information which most of the other leaders lack,” Kahiga said while fielding questions from journalists in Nyeri.
He was accompanied by his deputy, David Kinaniri and other senior officials of his administration.
He criticised leaders who he said were like puppets and did what they are ordered to do saying such were not of any help to citizens as they were more concerned by their individual welfare at the cost of masses.
Saying the country had lost months in bickering, Kahiga urged leaders to ensure whatever they prioritise was what was beneficial to the public.
He urged the president not to be held hostage by some individuals saying the country has millions of qualified citizens who were equal to any task.
A few days ago, a section of leaders are said to have met and deliberated on possibilities of filing a motion to impeach the Deputy President over various claims, among them insubordination, opposing some government policies and supporting protests against the Kenya Kwanza administration.
