Norman Mwale [The PenPusher]
The towering of the zagging smoke
In the African skies
Used to be a way of communication
Skill
Within the village and villages beyond
And father used to devote to the cause
And his eyes could surveil the cloud
In its Ascension
As it kissed the sky in impartation
Of the avowedly signalled content
The smoke never prevaricated from
Telling the truth
The drum, how it conciliated with village
Ears when struck by the wise and
Granite palms of the drummer
To convey its nature purpose and
Without dissemblance
Enterpretations of the blown horn
Were also taken in the right course
And grasped by all
Before this modernistic siege and
Transmutation
Where industrial machines fart in the
Once virginal sky
With ink and pad predicate to be
The spectacular faces of this entropy,
Where life is written in between pages
Of paper mediums
And nurtured by these comic strips
Which at most are inexplicable
With father, mother remain these lames
Under this snare, where truth limps home
In distortion and adulterated
Like a young goat whose leg survived
The starving claws of the hyena
Only to fall upon those whose Pocketbooks are sturdy
To bargain for information from the tall
Market squares,
Are those who survive the harbingered Warfare!
