Cardinal Otunga Mosocho High School’s Chief Principal, Albert Ombiro, has expressed his gratitude to the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) for honoring him on World Teachers’ Day.
The recognition took place during a celebration held at the Kenya School of Government in Nairobi on October 5th, where he was presented with an award of excellence.
In a statement to the press in Kisii County, Chief Principal Ombiro underscored that the award was a testament to the hard work and collaborative efforts of the school’s teachers, parents, and students, resulting in commendable academic achievements.
He noted that such recognition for teachers is rare but well deserved.
Chief Principal Ombiro called upon all stakeholders to maintain their commitment to building a brighter future for the students.
He emphasized the challenges posed by contemporary temptations such as drugs and alcohol and stressed the paramount importance of ensuring the safety of children.
Cardinal Otunga Mosocho High School achieved an impressive average Mean Grade Score of 10.76 in the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams.
Out of the 330 students who participated in the exams, 28 students achieved A grades, showcasing the school’s commitment to academic excellence.
Albert Ombiro’s journey in education began at Kiru Primary, from where he advanced to Iterio High School and was elected as the games captain during both O and A levels.
He later pursued his higher education at Moi University, earning Bachelors and master’s degrees in education.
Ombiro’s career as an educator led him to several institutions, including Rigoma High School in Nyamira County and St. Teresiah Nyangusu Girls before he was promoted to the position of deputy principal at a mixed secondary school.
Thanks to his expertise in sports, he was further promoted to the role of principal at St. Peters Keberesi, where he championed standard athletics and established an academy at the school.
The Teachers Service Commission recognized his dedication and promoted him to the position of Chief Principal five years ago.
He was initially posted at St. Paul’s Gekano Boys before being transferred to Cardinal Otunga Mosocho High School in the same capacity.
In addition to his passion for teaching, Ombiro is an avid sports enthusiast and an advocate for environmental conservation.
Notably, the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) as the environmental champion identified him for both Kisii and Nyamira counties one year.
