Name: Clara Menezes

Tells us something about yourself

I’m a homemaker, married since almost 13 years and blessed with one son.

What has been a challenge you’ve experienced in life, and how did you overcome it?

A few years ago, I and my family met with a terrifying car accident in which I suffered multiple fractures in my right leg. This left me with a metal rod leaving me bed ridden for nearly four months with unbearable pain. But I never lost hope and today I am not only able to walk, but dance and run too with my determination. I thank God for bestowing me with so much power to overcome life’s tragedy.

Who inspires you?

My husband

What do you like most about yourself?

I am very compassionate about people. I always try to put myself in people’s shoes to understand what they are passing through. I’m always ready to help in any way that I can. I feel people’s pain and cry with them whenever they are sad. I try as much as possible not to hurt anyone no matter who they are. I don’t look down on anyone.

Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

I would like to continue contributing to the society in every manner possible.

Why is your platform important to you?

Your platform is your beliefs, your vision, and your dream. Platform like social media allows you to interact in ways you could never imagine, how you did till now without it. It is quite easy to catch up on someone’s life through a simple message on the computer or mobile phone, even email.

What makes you unique?

I don’t want to sound boastful, but to me being unique means I’m only one of a kind and there is no other person exactly like me.

Have you experienced criticism for competing in pageantry? If so, how did you handle it?

When I competed in pageantry last year I was criticized by many of the other contestants for being a bit obese. But I handled it by not reacting to it, as people who criticize usually expect a reaction from the victim. And I won two titles.

How do you handle the responsibilities of the crown on top of your job, family and marriage?

Participating in a beauty pageant contest was only a dream I pursued being a homemaker. So, basically nothing has changed in my personal life.

If you could give your younger self one piece of advice what would that be?

“Respect yourself, that’s the advice I would give to my younger self. Everything you do, all the choices you make, your successes and your failures are all directly related to how you feel about yourself. When you love yourself and live with confidence, your choices reflect that.
