CS Rebecca Miano Flags Off Delegates to Dubai’s Future Leaders Challenge

Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano has praised the enthusiasm and creativity of young Kenyans in the fields of tourism and conservation. Speaking at an event this morning, CS Miano flagged off 12 exceptional youth in tourism and hospitality to participate in the prestigious Future Leaders Challenge 2025, set to take place in Dubai this week.
“It’s exciting to witness the agility and zeal within our youth in matters of tourism and conservation,” remarked the Cabinet Secretary. “The future of tourism—as is the case for conservation—lies in the hands of our young people. Their curiosity, proclivity towards inventiveness, and unyielding courage to experiment with novel ideas offer a bright light in a tunnel whose terminus is nigh.”
The Future Leaders Challenge is a global platform that brings together young professionals and innovators in tourism and hospitality to showcase groundbreaking ideas, exchange knowledge, and gain insights from industry leaders. Kenya’s delegation of 12 youth is expected to make a significant impact, representing the country’s rich tourism heritage and innovative potential.
CS Miano emphasized that the Ministry’s initiatives to empower young people are critical to securing the future of the tourism sector. These include mentorship programs, on-the-job training, and promoting financial literacy to support youth entrepreneurship in tourism. “Our outreach to the youth is anchored in ensuring they have the tools and opportunities to shape a vibrant and sustainable tourism industry,” she added.
With the global tourism industry rapidly evolving, the participation of Kenyan youth in such international forums reflects the country’s commitment to nurturing talent and fostering innovation. The Ministry’s continued support underscores the critical role of young people in driving the growth and transformation of Kenya’s tourism and conservation efforts.
