The Cabinet Secretary for Defense Eugene Wamalwa has fired back to the second in command who had earlier claimed that he picked him from home and made him a cabinet secretary for Water and Irrigation.
Responding to the Ruto’s claims, Wamalwa says that the second in command did not even attend his swearing-in ceremony as he had done to the rest of the Ministers but President Kenyatta did. The Defense boss added that the DP was against his appointment which he (Wamalwa) claims that was made by President Kenyatta and not DP Ruto.
According to Wamalwa, his relationship with DP William Ruto went south in 2018 when he took some Western leaders to State House to meet Mr. Kenyatta. Wamalwa has further disclosed that Ruto told him to resign hence there could be no Luhya in Jubilee’s cabinet.
Wamalwa says he respects William Ruto and that he had preserved the information for very long but he now feels that it is the ideal time to tell what he knows about the second in command. He also claimed that the DP wanted to slap him.
The Ruto’s remarks have captured the attention of netizens and some politicians who have termed them as insults. The outgoing Kitui governor Charity Kaluki Ngilu has warned the DP to stop insulting women asking him how does he know whether some “men are like women.”
Hon. Alinur Mohamed has said that William Ruto has lost all Luhya and women votes since Wamalwa is the Luhya kingpin.
